Who we are
Letters with Love (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app that lets you write and exchange letters with people you know. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at davidmackay808@gmail.com.
Information we collect
When you use the app, we may collect:
- Account information — email address, password (stored by our authentication provider), and optional username and display name.
- Letters and drafts — letter text, recipient name, paper style, delivery timing, and ember/self-destruct settings you choose.
- Mailbox metadata — delivery status, open timestamps, and related sync data needed to deliver letters between accounts.
- Device information — basic technical data needed to run the app (for example, app version and platform), collected by our hosting and authentication providers as part of normal service operation.
We do not sell your personal information.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Create and secure your account
- Store drafts and deliver letters to recipients
- Start ember-letter countdowns when a letter is opened and remove expired letters
- Provide support when you contact us
- Keep the service reliable and secure
Service providers
We use trusted third parties to operate the app:
- Clerk — sign-in, account management, and session security.
- Supabase — cloud database storage for profiles, letters, and drafts.
- Expo / EAS — app builds and distribution infrastructure.
These providers process data on our behalf according to their own privacy policies and our agreements with them.
Data retention
- Letters and drafts remain until you delete them, your account is deleted, or an ember letter expires after being opened.
- When you delete your account in the app, we remove your profile and your side of stored mailbox data associated with your account.
Your choices
- Update your display name and username in the app
- Delete drafts and letters where the app allows
- Delete your account from Profile in the app
- Contact us to request help with your data
Children
Letters with Love is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Security
We use industry-standard authentication and database access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable safeguards.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
